Vehicles and Minikits are a central point in the LEGO game series (albeit missing from LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Indiana Jones for the most part). There are several types of vehicles: Vehicles that you play as in Story Mode, vehicle that you must purchase, vehicles that require an extra. In LEGO Star Wars II, LEGO Star Wars III, and LEGO Batman vehicles have their own Story Mode levels and such. Minikits are only usable in LEGO Star Wars II and LEGO Star Wars III, in the Minikit Bonuses.

In the original LEGO Star Wars, there were only four playable vehicles, but they were not playable outside of Story Mode.

In LEGO Batman, vehicles were split into three different sections: Land (for Two-Face Chase), Water (for Batboat Battle and Harboring a Grudge), and Sky (for Flight of the Bat and Biplane Blast).
