Martian Manhunter first appeared in Detective Comics Issue #225 as J'onn J'onzz in The Strange Experiment of Dr. Erdel, where Professor Erdel uses a computer to teleport things from space. J'on J'onzz is captured by the computer and is teleported to Earth.
