Kai is one of the main characters in the Ninjago series, the hotheaded master of Fire. He's shown to be a bit of a showoff but would do anything to protect the team, especially Nya.

Story[]
Kai and his sister, Nya worked at their father's blacksmith shop until Wu came in and saw the potential in him. He refuses however until Nya is captured by the Skulkin, motivating him to train so he can rescue her. Upon finishing his training, Kai meets with Jay, Cole and Zane and learns to cooperate with them to obtain their Golden Weapons.
After doing so and taming the dragons guarding said weapons, Kai and the ninja meet Lloyd Garmadon and at first leave him hanging from his shirt collar off a house, however they're soon forced to look after him once Wu takes him in. Kai's motivation at first is believing he is the green ninja, making him unable to unlock his full potential until he accepts that his role isn't to be the green ninja, but to guard him.
Once Lloyd becomes the Golden Ninja, Kai and the rest of the team aid him in purifying Garmadon and later down the line, becomes a teacher until The Overlord returns.

LEGO Battles: Ninjago[]
Even though Kai's face is on the cartridge of the game, he isn't unlocked until the second level when Wu finds him. Based loosely on the pilot, he's only playable in the Ninja Story mode and is a melee type fighter who can be upgraded to learn fire spinjitzu.
LEGO Ninjago: Nindroids[]
Based loosely on the third season of the show, Kai narrates the opening cutscene of the game and is playable first. He wields a katana and has fire spinjitzu, he can also hack a jet with his Techno Blade during the vehicle autoscroll levels.
LEGO Ninjago: Shadow of Ronin[]
Kai is available at the start alongside the rest of the ninja, it's also revealed that the first level was simply him telling his version of what happened during season 4 until Jay interrupts him by saying none of it happened. Afterwards, the group is attacked by Ronin's goons and plan to go after him next, only to lose their memories thanks to the Obsidian Glaive.
Kai regains his memories alongside his Obsidian Weapon second, gaining the ability to walk through fire and shoot fireballs from his hands. He can also shoot a steady stream of fire to melt ice or destroy obstacles. His weapon of choice is the katana.
